It would be great if everything could be planned way in advance and holidays booked when early bird discounts are available. Sadly life doesn't always work like that and you may find yourself looking for a a holiday at the last minute, hoping for a great deal. Good news: If you have some flexibility on dates you have a reasonable chance of finding a list minute deal.

What's the latest we can book?
Generally we are happy to accept bookings up to the point of hire, if you are booking for a last minute hire that starts in the next 48 hours however we highly recommend calling the office, this will make it much easier to get your booking secured in time.
Where can we take a last minute canal boat hire?
Last minute hire is possible from all of our bases, if a boat remains unbooked it will usually become avilable as a last minute hire potentially with some attractive last minute discounts.
I can't find an option for the dates i'm interested in, should I give up?
No! Send us a message or give us a call, and we will do our best to help you find something.
Sometimes some options can be arranged that are not on the usual handover dates if a boat is available, this is something that will not show up in the last-minute hire search results and will need to be arranged manually, we work with multiple hire bases and so are best placed to know the overall availability and which bases may have the options to put together a customised last minute canal boat hire. Even if we don't have availability we will do our best to help you find a last-minute option from other reputable hire bases that are not necessarily our official hire partners.

A very enjoyable holiday
We decided to take a last minute narrowboat holiday but quickly realised the huge range of options on offer. We came across Roam & Roost and having reviewed some boats and locations on their website, we tried the online chat and received immediate, personal and friendly advice from James. He presented us with some options that fit our brief and we went on to book a 4-day trip on the Grand Union Canal. The booking came thorugh quickly and the whole process was really efficient and simple.
We have now returned from a very enjoyable holiday! The boat was comfortable, clean and perfect for our small family. The slow pace was exactly what we needed. We will be back next year (if not sooner!). Many thanks, Ben.
